Mark Baxter is an experienced game designer and digital media executive with over 12 years of industry experience, specializing in health-based gaming across web, mobile and social platforms. He has been the designer/producer of more than 30 interactive titles across multiple platforms, including: Console, PC/Downloadable, Online/Flash, iPhone and Facebook. Research Collaborator - Magy Seif El-Nasr

Dr. Seif El-Nasr is an Associate Professor in the Colleges of Computer and Information Sciences and Arts, Media and Design at Northeastern University. She is also the Director of the Game Educational Programs and Research at Northeastern and the Director of Game Design Program in the College of Arts, Media and Design. She also directs the Game User Experience and Design Research Lab. Dr. Seif El-Nasr earned her Ph.D. degree from Northwestern University in Computer Science. Magy’s research focuses on interactive narrative, enhancing game designs by developing tools and methods for evaluating and adapting game experiences. Her work is internationally known and cited in several game industry books, including Programming Believable Characters for Computer Games (Game Development Series) and Real-time Cinematography for GamesIn addition, she has received several best paper awards for her work. Magy worked collaboratively with Electronic Arts, Bardel Entertainment, and Pixel Ante.

Rochelle is a social media, social games, and online entertainment expert with 20 years of business, technology, digital media and film experience.  For the past 5 years, Rochelle has been teaching the Social Media Strategy & Marketing and Social Media Monetization courses at the University of British Columbia (UBC). She is also the Industry Chair and Program Advisor for UBC's Digital Media Strategy Certificate Program and Social Media Award of Achievement Program. Laura Mae Brown started her career in Investment Banking at UBS in London. Over the course of five years working across various sectors and teams she built up a foundation for analytics and data driven decision making. She made the transition to video gaming post-MBA, starting at Live Gamer building monetization models for virtual item strategy and alternative payment methods to support microtransaction-based businesses.  She moved to Riot Games during their early development phase and spent the next two years devising and managing the monetization strategy for League of Legends. During this time League of Legends took Riot Games from a start-up to a major presence in world of e-sports with the most played video game in the world.  Laura brought her unique skillset at the forefront of digital gaming monetisation to the Play4Free business unit at EA in May 2012.  Her objective now is to help EA make the digital transition from boxed-product retail to emerge as a financially successful leader in the core free-to-play space.

Laurie Gould has been the Executive Vice President, Patient Centred Care of London Health Sciences Centre since July 2011. She came to London Health Sciences Centre in March 2009 to take on the role of Vice President, Women and Children’s Services.  Laurie graduated from Central Michigan University with a Masters in Health Science in Administration and Lethbridge University with a Baccalaureate of Nursing.  Laurie was previously employed as Executive Director, Primary & Chronic Care, Fraser Health; one of the largest Health Authorities in Canada.

Kay McQueen, Dietitian and Nutrition Adviser

Kay McQueen is a registered dietitian with over 20 years experience.  She currently works at the St. Paul’s Hospital Healthy Heart Program in Vancouver, BC. Most of her career has focused on nutrition education and counseling in the area of heart disease and diabetes.  She enjoys giving presentations to professionals, students and the public and does work for the media. She is a member of The British Columbia College of Dietitians’ and the Canadian Diabetes Association Diabetes Educator Section.  She leads an active and healthy lifestyle and strongly believes that eating healthy can bring significant benefits to your health.

Lu Qi, PhD, Research Advisor

Dr. Qi, is Assistant Professor in the Department of Nutrition at Harvard.   Dr. Qi has been the lead researcher for many seminal studies examining how genes and nutrition affect weight loss.  He has won a number of awards from The American Heart and Diabetes Associations.  Dr. Qi serves as Editor-in-Chief for World Journal of Diabetes, Associate Editor for BMC Medical Genetics, and editorial board member for the Journal of Nutrition, the International Journal of Molecular Epidemiology and Genetics, and Frontiers in Nutrigenomics. Dr. Qi is a fellow of American Heart Association (FAHA) and American College of Nutrition (FACN).
